For the Good of the Game
Inspired by what they've gained from golf, Mark and Wendy Reinemann are giving back to the game.
Mark Reinemann first played golf when he was a boy. During the summers, neighborhood moms took turns dropping Mark and his friends off at the course shortly after dawn and picking them up just before dusk. Those daylong excursions sparked a lifelong passion for the sport.
Now a retired banking executive, Mark wants to ensure the game continues to bring enjoyment to players of all ages long after his lifetime. That's why the USGA Executive Committee member has included the Association in his estate plan.
"Golf has meant a lot to my wife, Wendy, and me," says the five-time club champion and former public links champion in his home state of Wisconsin. "We've met so many wonderful people and have had so many great experiences. Being able to play a game outside and get some exercise is fun."
Mark, of Pinehurst, N.C., has long been an active member of the golf community. He served on the USGA's Regional Affairs Committee, the 2011 U.S. Amateur Committee and the Wisconsin State Golf Association board. He also chaired the PGA Tour's 2002 and 2003 U.S. Bank Championships.
"You meet the best-quality people through the game of golf," he said. "It's a common denominator. We've made so many wonderful friendships. For what golf has meant to my family, we wanted to do something for the good of the game that will live on beyond us."
